Penguin glasses? Yes please.
I’m not going to lie, I have an Ikea problem. I really like Ikea, I like that their stuff is cheap mostly I think. But I really truly thought I had struck the jackpot when I ran into these beauties :

I mean, they have elephants, and mushrooms, and penguins, and flowers, and bugs, and are just all around awesome. Oh and they only cost me $6/6, but they were on sale then and they’re still only $9.00 at regular prices.
They can be found on the Ikea site here :
Why am I writing about my water glasses you ask? Because I like them that much.

Books that I love
I have no intention of turning HH into a niche blog, but it is of course a blog about my life and things that I love. Armed with this truth I figure why not tell you about some of the things I really love?
So today I thought I would chat about one of my favorite authors. I’ll be the first to admit that if a book has an ugly cover there’s a 99% chance I’m not going to read it. I usually choose books based on their covers and so far I don’t believe its ever disappointed me. I’m sure I’ve missed out on some fabulous reading material due to this method (got a great book with an ugly cover I should read? I’m open to suggestions.) Regardless; I like familiarity, and pretty books are familiar.
Some time ago me and my Mom were going somewhere, and I’ll be damned if I can remember where, but my life is incomplete without a book to take everywhere with me. So we did our preparation trip to the bookstore where I instantly picked up a book by Juliet Marillier because of it’s pretty cover; it was her first published novel and I’ve been head over heals in love with her ever since.

I’m not going to give you a breakdown of every book she’s ever written because that would be far too time consuming for someone of limited patience like myself, but I will say this – if you like fantasy, romance, historical fiction, books that make you cry and have pretty covers, this is probably the author for you.
Almost all* of Juliet’s novels are based in a historical era; usually somewhere in Europe (including the UK and Ireland) and follow a young woman through a period of hardship. These aren’t your typical romance novels; Juilet is a master at teasing you with her love stories, you’ll find yourself desperately wanting the main characters to just fall in love already, or kiss, or touch, or just do something – anything already, and she holds it back long enough that you feel relieved and gleeful when they finally do. Her stories are delightful and whimsical; they’re always full of colour and interesting characters. Not only that but you don’t have to *work* to read her books, I’ve never found myself lost or confused about what on earth is going on or how I managed to miss something.
I’m not going to say this is a 100% accurate review of her books as it has been sometime since I reread most of them, but it is the general flow of things. That’s one of the thing’s I love the most though; when I pick up one of her books I know exactly what to expect yet am always surprised and delighted.
So if you have some spare time this summer to curl up somewhere and read a book I highly recommend grabbing the first of the Sevenwaters Trilogy – Daughter of the forest and taking it for a whirl, I won’t say you won’t be disappointed; as that’s a matter of personal taste, but I truly hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
