Peas, homie.
Just the weekly boring plant update, I love them though because it means I get to take pretty pictures and its my blog so neener-neener-neener.
Ahem.
Right, as previously stated in the post about Vulcan, me and Steve went for a drive with the 100% full intention of finding some sticks or other acceptable material for me to create a lattice of some sort for my little pea friends to climb. My green babies are growing up before my eyes *sniff*. They were starting to lean all over the place with their nifty little green tendrils reaching out towards random objects, or each other, or the other flowers and just generally creating some weird pea plant knot in places. So instead of finding my own twigs or sticks or buying them I went to my Dad’s house and said “Dad, do you have any sticks?,” and because he’s wonderful he provided me with 4 sturdy perfect sticks to use. So now they have a little house where they can grow big and strong, and then provide me with things to help me grow big and strong, it’s a lovely relationship.

Look at the little tendrils! Squee!
My tomato plants are of course doing wonderful. The big beast has 2 itty bitty little tomato’s, yay! And my miniature tomato plant is still acting like it has something to prove; I shit you not I counted 30+ tomato’s on it the other night. Until this morning when I went on my deck, and because shes top heavy, had tipped over losing a couple of her fruit. I’m connected to this plant, I feel for her, I was like a mother running to her fallen child when I saw her tragic situation, laying there helpless on her side, tomato’s rolling around on the deck. Poor thing.

Look at all those freaking tomato’s! Good lord.

And here’s a size comparision when I say my wonder-tomato-plant is little :

That’s big Bertha to the left – I was in the rocket club in elementry school and built a toy rocket called big bertha, true story – that’s wonder-plant in the middle, and to the right is my strawberry plant and some sort of roses.
Speaking of my strawberry plant…. Look!

And lastly, Steve’s flowers continue to kick my flowers ass’. So I cheated and took the putunia’s out of the planter with the strawberries and put them in my planter. Shhh, don’t tell anyone.

The above one is my planter, which is apparently taking an extended vacation on the fail boat.

And this is Steves. Jerk-face. His daisies have about 20 buds on them, mine? Not so much.
Later!

Garden Update!
Just a quick update on my little green childern :
My tomato plant is working hard to be the best tomato plant ever. Look at them all! Help me Rhonda, I’m going to have to give some away.

And those itty bitty, sad, pathetic excuses for pea plants?

Look at the little viney feeler things! All wound up into a spiral. SO NEAT.

My Momma also bought me a huge tomato plant, and I did plan to introduce him to the world but the picture came out blurry, I dont know how I manage to blur a picture of a plant, but I did. I don’t want to talk about it anymore.
Peace <3

Project : Grow food on my deck, has been initiated.
I figured since the daises and my critters stole the show in my last post that I should make another post just for my other flowers, poor neglected buggers.
First thing, I’m growing peas. On my deck. Why? Because I like peas and think I should grow some. So I took a long planter and soaked some seeds and they’ve been making themselves cozy for about a week now.
Here’s the pea house of love :

As you can tell, sadly none of my peas have sprouted yet. The dirts looking bare and sad other than those left over flowers I had to do something with.
But wait a minute….
Whats this????

Wai hallo thar pea sprout! Welcome to Canada, enjoy your stay. I’ll knit you some socks for winter if you promise not to die on me.
So yes, the good news is ONE is sprouting, but where are the other 40 or so I plopped into there? I think I may have buried them too deep. I dont know anything about peas, so I’ll just wait it out and see what happens.
Onwards on this little vegtable journey I say! Next stop is the tomato plant. There is one think I’d like to say about tomato plants – they are not pretty. I took about 25 pictures of this darn thing and only ended up liking about 3 of them. Anyways, I’m not really sure what type of tomato plant I bought, how to take care of it, or when it should be bearing fruit, but as of right now its given me these pretty little things :

They’re only the size of the tip of my thumb, and its May so I’m not entirely sure they’re even going to taste good. Aren’t tomato plants suppose to produce tomatos in the fall? Why is my rogue tomato plant growing them in the spring? Am I confused? Someone halp!
On that same note, what on earth is my strawberry plant doing?

I need to read up on some of this shit stat. I’m not sure of what I should do, pick it and toss it or let it grow.
Anyways, carrying on to some prettier photos instead of dirt and hairy looking green balls.
Daisies are not the only flowers I planted; I also planted these pretty pink flowers in with the strawberry plant – I seriously overestimated the size of my long planters that’s why there’s a mixing pot of flowers/food plants going on here.
These are charming little buggers, they’re super tiny but they look stellar when I throw on macro mode and get up close and personal.

This was an accidental photo I was going to delete on the spot, but then I noticed all the little buds and fell in love with them, they look like they should be alive with mouths.
Don’t ask me what they are, I don’t know. From here on I shall call them itty bitty snappy dragons. Roar.
I also have a whole bunch of petunias, I think…
These things here

Ooooh, orange daisies. I didn’t have the heart to crop them. But yes I have a whole bunch of these, but these lilac colored ones are my favorite of the bunch. I think Steve picked them. All the flowers Steve picked out are doing much better than mine, and the planter that happens to contain the ones he chose looks much fuller and more alive than mine. I don’t get it. Anyways…
I crawled around on my belly on my deck to take these photos while wearing a skirt, I can’t confirm or deny that I was 100% lady like through the whole process. Just thought I’d share.
On that note, one last photo!

They own my soul.
From my Deck, with love.
As promised, some photo’s of my “Garden”
First off though, some pretty sunset photo’s from the deck. I RAN to take these photo’s, I hope someone appreciates them.

Get used to off-the-deck, facing west photos. I think 90% of the time it’s what either me or Steve pick up the camera to take a picture of.
And now, the garden.
I love these Daisies, if I die would someone be so kind as to bring them to my grave. I’m pretty sure they’re my favorite.

And most importantly, the deck has been approved by the Lords of the household :

Planting flowers makes me content and happy!
I think if anyone ever asked me if there was something in this world that I found soothing my first answer would be growing things. There’s something about buying a little tiny plant, sticking it into a giant pot of dirt and nurturing it to grow.
Today for the first time ever I bought flowers for myself. I think a kid in the candy store would be a fair description of me in the greenhouse. I love it; I love the dirt between my fingers, I love the pretty colors and the smells. But I think more than anything I like to know that with my care, and protection the little buggers will grow into nice big pretty plants. Hopefully the tomato plant, peas and strawberries will reward me with some tasty noms in the near future too.
Pictures to follow if I can force myself not to procrastinate.
P.S I’m terrible for not capitalizing the word i, if anyone see’s any baby i’s lurking around my blog, please feel free and encouraged to point them out.
