The Diet.

BY: Chelsea

So after a few weeks of debating whether or not I really wanted to put this on here I decided, yes it is indeed the right thing to do, because if I put it out there I will feel more inclined to follow through.

So about 3 weeks ago me and Mr. Steve decided both our waistlines are a little out of control and in need of some fixin’. That’s a lie actually, I decided last year in November to do something about it, but this time as I geared up to get back on the diet wagon Steve joined me. Steve joining me is thrilling, I’m so exstatic about it that its crazy.

So first things first, after 3 weeks of not-so dedicated dieting, we’re really buckeling down (har-har) and getting down to business about it. I think one of the main things I always think when I’m dieting is I can’t wait until its over because lord help me I’m only 3 weeks in and already the idea of eatting another salad makes bile come up my throat, and that’s not a strategy I’m planning on using.

Anywho, I decided to go on the Dr. Bernstien diet back in November of last year, and I did well. I had some major issues with their clinic, the price, and the way that the doctor treated me.  I came off of the diet in late january and after 4 months I had lost approximately 50lbs, which is great and I was happy about it, now looking back it cost me roughly $200 a pound going through them. That’s absoluetly stupid money. Not only that but I was feeling ill by the end of it, and the doctor was talking about taking all the carbs and sugar out of my diet because I was only loosing around 2 lbs a week which is GOOD weight loss in my opinion, but was lower than their adverage. Now I cheated twice while attending the clinic, both during the week of christmas, I had a taco salad with *gasp* beef instead of chicken and an incredibly small scoop of stuffing and cranberry sauce at christmas, which I counted as a bread and fruit portion as it seemed reasonable. The doctor asked me at my next check up if I had had a “Party week” Serious? If I were going to have a party week it would have involved me, my oven and about 300 batches of cookies and at least 3 cakes because man, was I craving some sugary cookies and cake around month 2.

Anyways, I came off the diet in January and managed to lose 30 more pounds by myself by March 1st, which was my birthday, and I decided to treat myself for 3 days for having been so good. 3 days eventually turned into 5 months, and here I was 20lbs up again and sad for not having more freakin self control. If you put me against cookie monster in a cookie eatting contest I’d blow that blue little monster out of the water. Not.Joking.

So let’s put that all behind use, lets put the fact that Steve hit up Mcdonalds in his first week on the diet behind us; also the burgers and hotdogs we ate last week due to our excitment over a new bbq. I make us sound shameful but really Steve’s lost an adverage of a pound a day and i’ve lost about .75, for free, on my own time, without silly pressures from some doctor whos worried about his bonus being dinged while lining his pockets with my lost fat.

Ranting aside, I’ve lost 16 pounds so far, Steve’s lost 20 (which is 20% of his goal!) and we’re both feeling chipper and looking forward to some smaller pant sizes.

After this I don’t think I’ll ever be excited to eat salad again.

Ah well,

Oh wow

BY: Chelsea

It’s been a while, again, whats new. Here’s my issue, I don’t know what exactly to do with this blog. I enjoy writing, but my lifes not really that busy so I don’t always have something to write about. Also quality over quantity is definitely more important to me, I’d rather not fill it up with meaningless drivel for the sake of putting something up. I would, however, like to write about the things that really really are important to me, but at the same time I’m really very personal and shy about things that are close to my heart. I don’t take ridicule well when it’s about things near and dear to me and really make me tick so I’m yet to decide if I’m OK with putting them out into the open.

At the same time though I want to keep up the mundane life posts, about trips and things I love etc because it is a personal blog.

I think I confused me, ah well. More to come this week!

Popcorn Clouds

BY: Chelsea

I have a deep running affection for clouds. I don’t know why or how it all started; It just kind of did. When I was in highschool I took a lot of art classes, and boy did I churn out the cloud paintings. It’s never really ever seemed to have worn off; I’ve never really stopped loving them intensely, or continuously being fascinated by them.  When my Papa used to drive me to work in the city I’d always talk about the clouds in the car, it’s something he mentions to me every now and then and still brings up warm memories.

I really love the simplistic beauty of them just floating around up there above us. They come in so many different shapes and forms and sizes. Different colours, textures, short ones, fat ones, ones that go on forever, ones that arch and signal the coming of warmer air, I could go on and on and on and on like the freaking Bubba of clouds. And as much as they’re pretty to look at I love that they bring rain and snow; maybe not so much the snow, but I LOVE the rain. The beautiful smell of a fresh clean earth combined with how the rain just seems to make everything look a little more beautiful.

ohmy

Soooo stunning, and I hate pink.

Light beam’s. So pretty.

cloud5

I love this one, it’s like the little rogue cloud. NON-CONFORMIST CLOUD. He refuses to go with the flow and partake in the larger bully clouds storminess.

cloud4

I love how they frame the mountains too.

bigcloud

Why hello there big pretty fellow! He just passed through, didn’t so much as drop a splatter of rain.

cloud3

Seriously though, stop, look up every now and then, and appreciate some of the beauty thats around us every day.  And think of me while you do it <3 .
